Paul J. Scoptur has been a civil trial lawyer representing plaintiffs exclusively since his graduation from Marquette University Law School in 1978. He has a successful primary and referral practice representing plaintiffs in all types of personal injury cases, ranging from automobile accidents, medical malpractice, workers' compensation, products liability, aviation accidents, railroad accidents, burn cases, brain injury, legal malpractice, truck accidents, insurance bad faith and wrongful death, both in Wisconsin, other states and Canada.
Paul serves the plaintiffs' Bar as a long-time member of the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Academy of Trial Lawyers and a current member of both the Tort Law and Public Affairs Committees of the State Bar of Wisconsin. He is Past Chairman of the Litigation Section of the State Bar as well. On the national level he has served on the National College of Advocacy Curriculum Advisory Committee and presently is serving his second three year term as a member of the National College of Advocacy Board of Trustees, having completed a two year term as Co-Chair of the Board.
Paul is strongly committed to the education of present and future lawyers as well. He has devoted countless hours on a volunteer basis lecturing and teaching in the area of personal injury and Civil Trial law for the State Bar of Wisconsin, Wisconsin Academy of Trial Lawyers and American Association of Justice in many states. He has taught at the University of Wisconsin Law School and is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Marquette University Law School. He is the author of "Tort Reform: It's Not About Victims...It's About Lawyers," 68 Wis. Law. 12 (June 1995), "Wisconsin's Underinsured Motorist Coverage," 62 Wis. Law. 10 (October, 1989) and "Monitoring the Patient Under Anesthesia" in The Verdict (1985).
Paul was married to his wife Christina in 1981 and together they have four children. Paul is very active in his family life as well as his legal career, where he has shared his talents coaching his kids and others in baseball, soccer and basketball. |
