Lawyer Profile
I graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin in 1968, and earned a J.D. (Doctor of Law) degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in June 1971. I was immediately employed by Bosshard and Associates in La Crosse for four years during which I gained experience in a wide range of legal matters including family law, personal injury and bankruptcy. In 1975 I formed my own law firm and have been self employed in the practice of law ever since. In 1986 I created the La Crosse Law Center to better serve the needs of my clients. Since that time I have attained a great deal of experience and expertise primarily focusing my law practice toward helping and representing families in matters involving small businesses, personal injuries, divorce and financial crises solving hosts of issues including starting, operating and ending family businesses, obtaining compensation in automobile accident cases, handling child support, placement, maintenance, division and valuation of property in family law cases, drafting revocable (living) trusts, wills and other estate planning instruments and, when necessary filing for bankruptcy protection. I am a member of the Family Law, General Practice and Appellate Sections of the Wisconsin State Bar Association, the Collaborative Family Law Council of Wisconsin and the La Crosse County Bar Association. I have served on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Foundation, and have served as the Chairman of its Grants and Review Committee and as its legal counsel. I have also served as Chairman of the Norskedalen Board, Chairman of the La Crosse Area Heart Association, Treasurer of the Onalaska Jaycees (Officer-of-the-Year 1982) and have been on the Board of Directors of the Coulee Council on Addictions since1998. I regularly provide Pro Bono and reduced fee services for New Horizon's clientele as well as for various other individuals and organizations in need. I am married and have three children. My son Erik works for Congressman Ron Kind in Washington DC. My daughter Annika attends the University of Wisconsin in Madison. My daughter Andrea attends La Crosse Logan High School. My wife Lois is a teacher and Creative Consultant. At leisure I enjoy playing competitive duplicate bridge having obtained the status of "Life Master" in 2004, watching movies, spending time with friends and family. |
