Kristen is both an attorney and a CPA who focuses her practice on estate and tax planning, business planning, probate, and trust management. Prior to joining the firm in 2005, she worked as a Personal Trust Officer at North Central Trust Company in La Crosse, where she was responsible for more than 200 personal trust accounts including relationship management, income, gift, estate and distribution planning, and the review of income tax returns. Kristen’s experience also includes work as a Tax Senior at McGladrey & Pullen, LLP, and as an Attorney and Law Clerk at Klos, Flynn & Papenfuss, both in La Crosse.

Kristen graduated cum laude from Vermont Law School in South Royalton, Vermont, after earning a BS in Accounting from UW-La Crosse, where she was also an adjunct instructor for Business Law for Accountants and Managerial Accounting. She also served for nine years as a district member of the Wisconsin Board of Attorneys Professional Responsibility (now OLR) and has served as a proctor for the Business Law section of the CPA examination review course in La Crosse. She currently serves on a number of Boards for local community organizations.

Representative Experience

• Gathered detailed information on income and expenses and discussed options with elderly clients with significant tax debt and no resources with which to pay. After we prepared Offers in Compromise for both Federal and State, the situation was successfully resolved for approximately 50 cents on the dollar.
  
• Researched and reviewed options for estate planning clients for equalizing and providing for four children. Client wished to provide for low-income child. We prepared all estate planning documents including powers of attorney, wills, revocable trust, and worked with a local professional to purchase a second-to-die life insurance policy to accommodate the client’s goals.
