Jim Nelson concentrates his practice on complex commercial trials and defense of government investigations. He represents public and private companies, as well as individuals, in the defense and prosecution of claims under federal and state antitrust laws, disputes related to the health care industry and a broad spectrum of business litigation. He also has significant experience in the defense of product liability claims and qui tam litigation. Mr. Nelson has represented clients in state and federal courts throughout Texas and in other parts of the United States, as well as in arbitrations, mediations and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. Having tried nearly 200 jury trials and several hundred bench trials and contested evidentiary hearings, Mr. Nelson is able to effectively evaluate, prepare and try cases arising from a broad range of disputes.

Mr. Nelson began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Dallas County, Texas, where he served as a Chief Felony Prosecutor from 1982-1987 and tried cases ranging from misdemeanors to capital murder. He has participated in programs for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, Southern Methodist University, and the Dallas Bar Association.
