Burt J. Blustein was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 27, 1940 and
admitted to the New York Bar in 1964 and the U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York in 1981 and the Northern District in1983. Mr.
Blustein was educated in the State University of New York at Binghamton (B.A.,
1961) Brooklyn Law School (J.D., 1964). Mr. Blustein spent the first six years
of his career practicing in New York City principally with the law firm of
O'Dwyer and Bernstein gaining experience in all phases of litigation.
In 1970, Mr. Blustein moved his family to Middletown, New York and in 1971,
he was appointed as an Assistant District Attorney for Orange County on a part
time basis while establishing private practice in Middletown. Mr. Blustein
served for two years as an Assistant District Attorney and resigned in order to
devote full time to private practice. Building on his litigation background, Mr.
Blustein over the years developed skills in transactional work and developed a
large client base for corporate clients for some of the larger businesses in
Orange County. Mr. Blustein has developed areas of practice in corporate banking
and commercial transactions, commercial litigation, municipal law, and zoning
and planning as well as wills, trusts, and estates.
Mr. Blustein is a member and past President of the Middletown Bar Association
as well as a member of the American, New York State and Orange County Bar
Associations. Mr. Blustein served for 15 years as a member of the Orange County
Bar Association Grievance Committee, five years as its Chairman and also served
for a number of years as Chairman of the Bar Association Fee Dispute Committee.
Mr. Blustein has also been active in civic affairs and various charities and is
co-founder and past President of the Mid-Hudson Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes
Foundation and served as a member of the Finance Committee of the Juvenile
Diabetes Foundation International.
