Charles H. Newman, a solo practitioner in East Brunswick, New Jersey, is a 1983 graduate of the Columbia University School of Law. Mr. Newman completed his college and law school education simultaneously through Columbia University’s Accelerated Interdisciplinary Legal Education program (AILE). Participation in this program was offered to only two students at Columbia University each year.

As an undergraduate at Columbia, Charles Newman majored in Anthropology and minored in Spanish. Upon graduation from law school, he took the New York State Bar Exam and was admitted in 1984. Five years later, in 1989, he was admitted to the New Jersey State Bar.

After successfully completing the New York Bar Examination, Mr. Newman went to work for the Manhattan real estate and banking law firm of Naegele & Sanders, a boutique law firm that specialized in representing Savings & Loan Associations. By 1986 he became a senior partner and the name of the firm was changed to Sanders and Newman. While at Sanders & Newman, he worked on numerous and varied complex matters affecting the savings and loan industry, including mergers and acquisitions, public and private stock offerings, organization of subsidiaries, and regulatory compliance. Because of the highly regulated nature of the banking industry, Mr. Newman not only acquired expertise in a wide variety of areas of business law, but also gained valuable experience in successfully interacting with state and federal regulators. This experience has also enabled him to bring a unique interdisciplinary perspective to the practice of law.

With the break-up of the savings and loan industry in 1989, Mr. Newman has concentrated on applying the skills and insights acquired during his years at Sanders and Newman to the needs of the business community generally.

In 1990, Charles Newman became part of the New Jersey law firm of Gross & Novak, a general commercial law firm, where he performed extensive work in banking, real estate transactions and bankruptcy law. After leaving Gross & Novak, Mr. Newman went to the law firm of Norris, McLaughlin & Marcus in 1994, where he was a member of both the Real Estate/Finance and the Healthcare departments. He also worked closely with attorneys in the Corporate Department on purchases and sales of businesses, and with attorneys in the Intellectual Property department in negotiating computer systems acquisitions and software development and licensing agreements.

In 1998, Mr. Newman joined two former partners of Norris McLaughlin who founded the firm of Dunn Lambert, LLC, where he collaborated on commercial and business transactions and litigation and was primarily responsible for nearly all real estate transactions handled by the firm.

In 2001, Charles H. Newman became a solo practitioner where he has been providing clients with affordable and high-quality legal services in the areas of commercial law, business law, real estate, and general commercial litigation.
