The firm of Marks & Clare was formed in 1951 by Ephraim L. Marks (1910 - 1998) and Truman Clare. Mr. Marks had been in the active practice of law in Omaha from about 1936 until he was called into service in World War II. After he returned from military service, Mr. Marks resumed his general practice of law, specializing in litigation matters. Meanwhile, Truman Clare graduated from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln with a major in accounting, and later entered Northwestern University as a graduate student in its accounting program. He later graduated from Creighton Law School, Omaha, Nebraska, in 1951. That same year, he and Mr. Marks formed the firm, Marks & Clare. Marks & Clare has performed a great deal of community service since its formation. Ephraim Marks was a board member of the Omaha Housing Authority. He also took a very active role in many community projects, such as preservation of Elmwood Park, and widening the South 84th Street railroad bridge tunnel. Mr. Clare has been and remains active in many community matters, including pro bono services for Creighton University, the Knights of Columbus, and the Jewish Federation Foundation of Omaha. He retired in June, 2001.
