Arriving in Leesburg in 1962, Walter S. McLin, III introduced himself to Lake County’s courtrooms as an associate in the law firm of Pringle & Davis. For several years, Walter practiced law with Ranston Davis out of the historic Stoer Building on Main Street in downtown Leesburg. In 1965, Dewey Burnsed joined the growing firm, and in October of 1969, the firm was incorporated as, Davis, McLin, Burnsed & Austin, P.A. In 1971 the Firm moved to it’s own building at 1000 West Main Street where it still resides today. Over the years, as partners came and went, and the name of the Firm reflected that, clients and the community referred to the Firm as simply, “McLin, Burnsed”. Honoring that, in 2001, the Firm officially changed it’s name to McLin & Burnsed P.A.

As the city of Leesburg and the surrounding areas matured into the busy cities and towns of the 21st century, the law firm grew to become Lake County’s largest and most respected law firm. As General Counsel for the City of Leesburg for over thirty years, and Lake County’s School Board for twenty-five years, the attorneys of McLin & Burnsed, P.A. have played a vital role in helping the community shape it’s growth. Having represented The Villages of Lake-Sumter since 1985, the law firm has been an integral part of the maturity of a once sleepy retirement village into this country’s largest single-site real estate development. In 1988, in order to better serve this Lady Lake community, the Firm opened an office in The Villages.
