Biesty, Garretty & Wagner, An Association of Professional Corporations (formerly Biesty, McCool & Garretty), has been performing legal services for the insurance defense industry since the firm’s inception in 1978. Prior to becoming an attorney, James T. Biesty spent fifteen years in the insurance industry as a claims adjuster, claims supervisor and claims manager. He is well versed in the litigation needs of insurance carriers and public entities.

Biesty, Garretty & Wagner currently represents the insureds of such carriers as Allstate Insurance Company, Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, Sutter Insurance Company, and Workmen’s Auto Insurance Company. In addition, they perform work for various TPAs such as Biller-Smith Associates on behalf of Meadowbrook Insurance Company and Peter Corrick & Associates for Edwards Theatres Circuit. The firm currently represents the County of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority, as well.

Over the past twenty-five years, Biesty, Garretty & Wagner has successfully defended the insureds of numerous insurance carriers and various governmental entities in thousands of cases. In the past five years alone, Biesty, Garretty & Wagner has tried more than fifty cases in California. Many of these cases resulted in outright defense verdicts and most others in jury verdicts of less than the principal’s evaluated amount on the file.

The firm provides a full range of litigation services from an “early intervention” program (which is designed to resolve cases prior to suit) to trial and appeal. The firm pioneered many programs for carriers such as Allstate Insurance Company, including their very successful MIST program which takes minor-impact, soft tissue automobile accident cases to trial.
